Living Sound®

The Green Choice

You can enhance your Quadrant home even further by choosing from several Energy Star Certified choices at the New Home Showroom.

Introduction

Choose Green

Energy Star Refrigerators These refrigerators use less energy than a standard refrigerator.

Quadrant Homes has been recognized for setting standards that have made us a leader in sustainable and environmentally sound practices. We believe cost minimization, customer value and technological innovations are all important objectives to keep in mind when developing a system for mitigating greenhouse gases and preserving our natural resources for future generations. We call this value system "Living Sound."

Conservation

Our Conservancy Partners

Cascade Land Conservancy

A unique component to Quadrant Homes' Living Sound program is our ability to balance the production of affordable new homes with a conservation effort that is unmatched in our region. Our commitment to the preservation and management of natural environments includes partnerships with various land conservancy groups whose mission is to protect and steward our region's most precious resource—land.

Every new Quadrant homebuyer has the opportunity to help our efforts by joining one of these conservancy groups—at no cost to them. Our goal is not only to be a conservation partner ourselves, but to also raise that effort and awareness for each new Quadrant homebuyer

Sound Site

Choose Green

Site-appropriate Landscaping Quadrant chooses plants that are native to our area and are appropriate for the conditions in which they are planted.

Quadrant Homes is committed to environmental responsibility through stormwater management. We take extraordinary steps in the way of training, testing, inspection and data sampling—sharing those methods with the Washington State Department of Ecology to identify meaningful ways to improve performance for the industry and ourselves. Our erosion control and safety practices ensure habitat protection of nearby streams and wildlife. Quadrant's proactive approach to stormwater management and monitoring of performance sets the highest standard in the homebuilding industry.

Energy Sound

Sealed Ducts By applying a sealant to the air ducts, the conditioned air remains inside the home instead of escaping outside.

Quadrant Homes was among the first homebuilders in the Puget Sound area to become Energy Star®-qualified. Administered by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Energy Star® program promotes efficiency through innovative technology. By choosing our Energy SoundTM option, your new home can be up to 50% more energy efficient than the recommendations of our national code. This energy efficiency has a positive effect on not only the environment but our wallets as well. Through material choices and design innovations, Energy SoundTM translates into reduced greenhouse emissions into the atmosphere and significantly reduced monthly utility bills.

Sound Materials

Choose Green

Recycled-Content Carpet Pad This padding is easy on both the feet and the environment by using recycled content that normally would have been discarded.

Home building uses a large quantity of materials. Green building techniques and the use of recycled-content products offer several ways to offset that environmental impact. Quadrant Homes uses methods and products designed to reduce waste, but are stronger and more durable than traditional ways of building. By utilizing advanced framing techniques, we take advantage of industry innovations to reduce material waste and pass the savings to our buyers.

In addition, many of the products that go into our homes contain recycled content or come from local sources, giving you a choice of options that are attractive and good for the environment.

Sound Water

Choose Green

Energy Star® Dishwashers These dishwashers use less water and energy than a standard dishwasher.

Water is one of our most precious resources. As our population continues to grow, demands on precious water resources increase.

For most households, the vast majority of water is used indoors. The average family of four uses 400 gallons of water each day and over 22,000 gallons per year just for showers and baths! Using water-saving techniques can save you money while diverting less water from our natural water sources. It can also reduce water and wastewater treatment costs and the amount of energy used to treat, pump, and heat water. This lowers energy demand, which helps prevent air pollution.

In addition to our standard water conservation practices, you can make choices at the New Home Showroom that will further reduce your water usage and energy bills while helping to maintain a healthy environment.

Sound Indoor Air Quality

Choose Green

Efficient MERV-8 Filter A MERV-8 filter has denser fibers and collects more allergens and dust out of the air than a filter with a lower MERV rating.

Quadrant's use of low-toxicity materials and smart construction techniques, such as air sealing and moisture testing, provide a better indoor air quality product.

Many air leaks and drafts are easy to detect—like those around windows and doors. Sealing these leaks has a great impact on improving your comfort and reducing utility bills.

Recycling

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Three words to live by for a better future.

Americans produce an estimated 154 million tons of garbage—roughly 1,200 pounds per person—every year. We can each do our part to lessen the impact on the environment by recycling our used products and choosing to buy items that contain recycled materials.
